Mabuhay!

I’m Jen, and I’m so happy to meet you. I’m a multiracial, AuDHD registered social worker who believes that we each have inside us everything we need to support our holistic wellbeing. I assist clients in their work to contextualize distress, develop self compassion, and find the practices which support their holistic wellbeing. My goal is to move beyond “one size fits all” modalities, to collaborate with you to explore a path to healing which is identity affirming, empowering, and meaningful.

I work from a relational, decolonizing, and culturally affirming perspective, which means that I prioritize respectful collaboration, relationship building, and centering your lived experience and beliefs. My practice is less about ‘fixing’ you or ‘making you better’ and more focused on reconnecting with your authentic self. I recognize that many of us are forced to suppress or hide aspects of ourselves in order to fit in. I believe that the therapy room should be a space where you can feel safe bringing every part of your identity and know that you will be seen, heard, respected, and celebrated.

I am trained in child, youth, and adult EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy, an evidence-based method for treating trauma, emotional distress, and negative self-beliefs. I incorporate elements of parts work/IFS, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, somatic therapy, mindfulness and self compassion practice. I encourage you to share your own culturally-based and/or spiritually relevant healing practices. With my younger clients I bring in both guided and non-directive play-based techniques. These recognize play as a child's natural language to learn about, communicate, and process emotions, and involve the use of imaginative play, creative and sensory activities for skill-building, emotional regulation, trauma processing, and social development.

I am a member of OASW, EMDR Canada, and EMDRIA, an OCSWSSW dual registrant, and an 8th generation Reiki Master. I hope to see you soon!
